Day 13
Day 13 Dalby Forest & Hutton le Hole
Not much cycling done - but a day of great fun getting involved with some of the grant receiving groups. Lollipop, the social group for young people which hearing impediments had organised a day on the high wires
in Dalby forest.
Apart from the initial trepidation, (the look on my face whilst on the practice wire says it all), I had a splendid time with George & Tom who accompanied me through the course.
Hutton le Hole's fundraising event took the gentler form of a plastic duck race down the stream which was followed by tea, scones & the all important money counting in Jan's garden.
Talking about the village, Walter Wilkinson said,
"Obviously Hutton was not a real, earthly village, but a dream-come-true sort of place, a rural Utopia suspended between heaven & earth, remote from time and all the blasted vulgarity of modern life"
Modern life does go on in Hutton and people like Jan are able to make a real difference to the young kids in the youth club by putting in time & effort. The Community Foundation has helped with various grants.
