Grassroots Grants



Grassroots grants is a £130m nationwide initiative to support activities at the heart of local communities.

 

Grassroots Grants in all areas York, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire is now fully spent and the scheme closed.


York & North Yorkshire Community Foundation are delivering the small grants programme in York and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

In North Yorkshire we worked in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust
and all funds have now been spent.

Grassroots Grants
Who can apply?

Not for profit, voluntary or community groups who:

  • have been in existence & active in the community for a year or more
  • have an income of less £30,000 per year, averaged over 3 years.  
  • work for the benefit of their local community
  • are led by volunteers
  • have a written set of rules or constitution

Size of Grant

Grants of between £250 and £5000 are available. Groups can apply more than once but can only receive a maximum of £5000 over the lifetime of the programme. As 2010/11 is the final year of Grassroots all groups must ensure they can complete their project and return the End of Grant report by 31st March 2011.

What can be funded ?

The grants are intended to benefit the community so may cover a wide range of projects. For example purchase of equipment such as computers or kitchen facilities, a local community event, training & staffing costs, community activities. The project may be a new project or may expand on an existing funded project. Applications for large items of equipment (£1000 or over) are welcomed. Grassroots funding for York has now closed.

Grassroots funding for East Yorkshire has now closed.

Due to the volume of applications received we are unable to accept any further online applications. As previously advertised we will continue to accept completed applications with supporting paperwork from groups who have already started the process until 30th September.

Grassroots funding for North Yorkshire has now closed.
Since the Grassroots programme for 2010/11 reopened in March 2010 we have been inundated with applications.  Due to the overwhelming success of Grassroots grants in North Yorkshire  the decision to close the application process (as previously advertised) on Friday 16th April 2010 has been confirmed. We are therefore not accepting any further applications from North Yorkshire.

Grassroots funding for York has now closed.

For projects in EAST YORKSHIRE

Grassroots for East Yorkshire has now closed for new applications.

We will continue to accept completed applications & supporting information from groups that have already started the online application process until 30th September.

For projects in NORTH YORKSHIRE

Grassroots for North Yorkshire has now closed for new applications.

Grassroots for North Yorkshire is managed in partnership with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. In order to ensure an even spend across all N. Yorkshire local authority areas the panel are particularly encouraging applications from Selby,
Scarborough, Hambleton and Ryedale this year.
