Two Ridings Community Foundation

About us

First set up in Cleveland, Ohio in 1914, the Community Foundation is a global phenomenon with over 1 400 Foundations around the world, 57 of which are in the UK. These locally focused organisations are linked by the Community Foundation Network which promotes and supports Community Foundations throughout the UK. Although every Community Foundation is unique, responding to the needs of different societies, they share one goal: to encourage positive social change.

Two Ridings at a glance
  • We are a registered charity, established in October 2000 and first known as the York and North Yorkshire Community Foundation.
  • Since then we have awarded £4 808 543, that's almost £5 million
  • To 1 552 projects across North and East Yorkshire

Yorkshire is a beautiful place to live. However, it includes major areas of poverty, isolation and deprivation. The Two Ridings Community Foundation was set up to help tackle the issues and hardship that face the most vulnerable and marginalised in our region.

Our ambition is to improve quality of life
by inspiring, stimulating and facilitating philanthropy and social participation in North and East Yorkshire.

To do so, Two Ridings forges a link between local philanthropists and local needs. This provides the resources and support necessary for great ideas and small organisations to get up and running. It gives small groups undertaking vital work a voice and allows them to focus on the helping rather than seeking funds.
